Net zero carbon council

Working together to become one of London’s most sustainable boroughs, join us on our journey. 

In Barnet, we’re on an ambitious journey to tackle climate change and protect biodiversity across the borough. Through our BarNET ZERO initiative, we aim to deliver a net zero council by 2030 and a net zero borough by 2042 at the latest.

We will achieve this by working together with local people, communities and businesses.

In May 2022, we declared a Climate and Biodiversity Emergency, underscoring the urgency of these commitments.

Our BarNET ZERO campaign has gained widespread recognition for its efforts toward sustainability, further highlighting the importance of our collective efforts.
