About the community fund

The London Festival of Architecture (LFA) is back in Barnet for a month-long celebration of architecture and creativity in June 2025. 

This year’s theme, ‘Voices’, invites you to make your voice heard! It is your chance to amplify the stories, perspectives, and conversations that shape places in Barnet by submitting your events - from walks and talks to events and workshops. 

Barnet Council's LFA Community Fund offers support towards events that: 

  • link to the festival’s theme ‘Voices’, relating to architecture and place
  • take place in Barnet
  • are inclusive and will reach and benefit Barnet residents

Applications must:

  • show evidence of good planning and organisation
  • propose a viable budget, offering value for money

How much you can apply for

We are offering small grants from £250 to £500 to support community members and organisations to fund their events. 

For more ambitious projects, applications over £500 will be considered but please email sarah.turner@barnet.gov.uk to discuss your proposal ahead of the deadline for submissions.

How the money can be used

These grants can be used to support new or planned events and activities.

They must take place in Barnet, between 1 June and 30 June 2025.

They must be open to all members of the local community. 

Events and activities could include:

  • talks
  • film screenings
  • workshops
  • performances
  • art projects
  • exhibitions
  • walks

You must comply with all relevant legislation (including The Equality Act 2010), with appropriate safeguarding measures and insurance in place.

Who can apply for the grant

Applications are open for:

  • local residents
  • artists
  • creative professionals
  • town teams
  • historians
  • emerging architects
  • community organisations and faith groups
  • individuals that are interested in cultural or architectural events 
  • legally constituted voluntary and community organisations (not including schools or other statutory organisations)

If you're applying as part of an organisation, there need to be at least two people on the organisation’s board or committee who are not related.

Joint applications are encouraged and will be considered.

Smaller groups without a bank account can nominate a group with a bank account to receive the money.

Apply for the fund

  • The submissions process will open on Monday 27 January 2025.
  • The deadline to apply for this grant is Tuesday 25 February 2025. 
  • Applicants will be notified of the status of their application by Friday 28 February 2025.
  • Applicants will list their event on the LFA website by the deadline of Friday 7 March 2025.

How your application is assessed

The review panel includes representatives from Barnet Council and the London Festival of Architecture. Proposals will be assessed in line with the criteria: 

Events that: 

  • link to the festival’s theme ‘Voices’, relating to architecture and place
  • take place in Barnet
  • are inclusive and will reach and benefit Barnet residents

Applications that:

  • evidence good planning and organisation
  • propose a viable budget, offering value for money
