Citizenship ceremony
We are here to help you plan the final stages of being granted your British citizenship.
Guide to becoming a British citizen
You should first check if you can become a British citizen
If you can you should then apply for citizenship to the Government Home Office
When your application for citizenship is successful you will be sent a ceremony invitation from the Government Home Office, inviting you to book your citizenship ceremony.
Once you have received your Government Home Office ceremony invitation, you can book your citizenship ceremony with us.
If you have not yet received a ceremony invitation from the Government Home Office, you will not be able to make a booking and must wait until you have received it, before attempting to book.
You have 3 months from receiving your ceremony invitation to attend your ceremony.
Group ceremonies
We offer group citizenship ceremonies at Hendon Town Hall:
• there is no fee for a group ceremony.
• the ceremony lasts around two hours.
• you can invite 1 guest to your ceremony.
Private ceremonies
We can also offer private citizenship ceremonies at Hendon Town Hall, so you can celebrate your citizenship in an intimate setting.
These ceremonies have greater availability. There is a fee payable for this ceremony.
• often available quicker than group ceremonies
• the number of private ceremonies available is limited
• you can invite 4 guests to your ceremony
• the fee for a private ceremony is £158 on a weekday or £180 on a Saturday. This payment is taken online when you book your ceremony.
Once you have your Government Home Office ceremony invitation, you can book your ceremony online.
You will need to make sure you book your place on a citizenship ceremony before the invitation expires (usually after 3 months). If an invitation has expired (or will expire before you or a member of your group can attend a ceremony) then you will need to contact the Government Home Office.
