Barnet Foster Carers Association (BAFCA)

Barnet Foster Carers Association (BAFCA) is a voluntary organisation, funded by Barnet Council and founded by Barnet foster carers. We offer a range of services including Support, Social Activities, Information, Advice and Practical Help for all foster carers and their families.

All foster carers who foster for Barnet automatically become a member of BAFCA. We are coordinated by a small committee of foster carers and provides a supportive space for carers to meet, share experiences and support one another.

We understand how challenging fostering can be at times. BAFCA provides a safe and welcoming environment where carers can connect, share their highs and lows, seek support and have their voices heard.

Act as the Voice of Foster Carers

We act as the voice of foster carers to:

  • represent Barnet foster carers as their collective voice and sharing feedback with the fostering service
  • encourage Barnet foster carers to contribute to the development of policies and practices
  • meet regularly with Barnet fostering service to raise and address carers’ challenges
  • advocate for joint and collaborative working with the fostering service.

Peer Support

We offer peer support:

  • offer support, advice and assistance to carers and their families, and signpost them to the fostering service or the Fostering Network for advocacy and guidance when needed.
  • enable foster carers to connect through informal coffee mornings and brunch meetings, where they can share their fostering journeys and best practices.
  • connect foster carers with a WhatsApp group to communicate and share information.
