How to get your documents verified
Once you have registered with Barnet Council as a sponsor, details of how to apply for the DBS will be emailed to you with a confirmed booking date. Each person will need to have their ID documents verified in person.
ID document verifications can now be done at our DBS surgeries at Bristol Avenue, Colindale.
If you need support with your online application you can do this at our Colindale site.
What to take with you
If you have already applied online, you will need your DBS application reference number.
Each applicant also needs to bring the original versions of these documents (no photocopies or printed forms from websites):
At least 1 in-date photographic ID:
- passport
- driver’s licence (plastic card)
- biometric residence card
At least 2 proof of address documents that aren't older than 3 months or an internet copy:

- utility bill
- bank statement
- HMRC statement (P45/P60)
- Council Tax statement

- letter from a school principal or Headteacher
These aren't essential but if you have any of the following documents, please bring them as well:
- EEA National ID card

- birth certificate
If you don't bring all the correct documents, we won't be able to complete the checks.
