Barnet Test and Trace
Skip to:
Barnet test and trace team is working with the national NHS Test and Trace Service to contact residents who have tested positive for COVID-19. Test and trace helps to reduce the spread of the infection and save lives.
If you have received a positive test result for COVID-19, the national test and trace team will try to contact you. If they can’t get through to you, they will ask the Barnet test and trace team to contact you.
How we will contact you
We will send you a text message and/or an email asking you to call us. We will also try to call you. We want to talk to you so that we can see if you need help to self-isolate and to collect details of recent contacts you have had and places you have visited.
If we are not able to speak to you, we will drop a calling card in the post, reminding you to self-isolate and how to get in touch with us.
If you receive a call, a text or a calling card from us please make sure to call us back as soon as possible so we can support you and protect those most vulnerable in society.
What happens on the call
The Barnet test and trace team will direct you to local community support services, should you need additional support while you self-isolate. This could be financial or mental health support or help with your shopping.
The team will also confirm a few details about your illness and the people you have had contact with recently so that those contacts can be asked to self-isolate too.
How will you know it is us?
Calls will come from the Council's telephone number: 0208 359 2000. The team will make several attempts to reach you, so please look out for and answer calls from this telephone number.
Self-isolation advice
We want to remind those who have a confirmed positive test for COVID-19 that they are required by law to stay at home for at least 10 days the day after you develop symptoms or have a test if asymptomatic.
All other household members who remain well must also stay at home and not leave the house for 10 days.
The 10-day period starts from the day after you first become ill or have a test if asymptomatic. If anyone else in your household starts displaying symptoms, they need to stay at home for at least 10 days from the day after their symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in their original isolation period.
Staying at home will protect your friends, family, community and the NHS.
Do not go to work, school, GP surgery, hospital or public areas, and do not use public transport or taxis.
Visit the gov.uk stay at home guidance page available in easy read format and other languages for more information on how to self-isolate.
