Connected Places

Barnet’s Connected Places Programme  is a four year initiative (2023/24 - 2026/27) aimed at improving the borough's digital infrastructure and connectivity. The programme focuses on deploying full fibre broadband, improving 4G and 5G networks, expanding public Wi-Fi, and introducing an Internet of Things (IoT) network. These efforts are designed to boost innovation, attract investment, and provide economic, social, and environmental benefits to residents, businesses, and public services.

The programme builds upon existing partnerships, such as the CCTV fibre network deployment, to enhance digital skills and telecommunications capabilities across the council. By strategically optimising telecom expenditures, the council aims to unlock greater potential for both public and private investments.

For residents, this means access to faster and more reliable internet services, improved mobile coverage, and the benefits of smart city technologies, contributing to a more connected and innovative community.
