The Mayor of London's air quality fund

Barnet and Harrow were successful in a joint bid for funding in the first round of the Mayor's air quality fund, for two projects (North Finchley Cleaner Air and Air Quality Champion projects). Combined, these projects form Barnet and Harrow Cleaner Air, with the main aim of improving air quality throughout the borough.

The Air Quality Champion is working with schools and businesses to support smarter travel choices and emphasise the links between poor health, air pollution, and sedentary behaviour. 

This project is based in and around North Finchley and is a package of measures including:

• Planting pollution reducing trees
• An electric vehicle car club and charging points
• Bicycle hire from The Cycle Store in Friern Barnet
