Change of address
Same CPZ
If you are moving to an address in the same (CPZ) then all you need to do is provide the proof documents and update your address in your permit account. To do this, check out the NSL Apply parking permit user guide in the related content section.
Different CPZ
If you have moved to an address in a different (CPZ) then you would need to cancel your existing resident permit and apply for a new resident permit. You may be due a pro rata refund.
Change of vehicle or vehicle registration number (private vehicle registration)
If you have changed your vehicle or your vehicle registration number, you do not need to cancel your existing active permit.
What you need to do:
- Log in to your permit account
- go to ‘Manage Vehicle Details’ tab and register your new vehicle details
- once the new vehicle registration has been added, select the green ‘Retrieve Vehicle Details’ button so that the information can be automatically generated and aligned with the DVLA vehicle information records.
Please note: if the system can’t find your new vehicle details (this could happen if it’s a brand new vehicle), you’ll need to enter the details manually using your logbook (V5C) or you can find them online at Get vehicle information from DVLA - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
You may be prompted to upload the new vehicle or vehicle registration number proof.
Accepted proof:
- The accepted proof of vehicle can be found on the relevant permit type page.
- The accepted proof of vehicle registration number is a copy of the certificate of entitlement (V750). Your certificate of entitlement is provided by the DVLA (Driver and Licensing Agency).
In order to find out if your parking permit is chargeable, it is important that the vehicle is placed in the correct charge band prior to submitting the change request:
- If it falls in a higher band, you’ll be required to pay a pro rata surcharge
- If it falls in a lower band, you’ll be issued with a pro rata refund
- If it falls into the same charge band, then no surcharge or refund applies.
Submitting the change:
- Go to ‘Manage permits’ tab of your permit account
- Select the active permit that you want to apply the change to
- Go to the ‘Vehicle’ tab and from the drop down select the vehicle registration that you wish to be assigned to your active permit.
- Go to ‘Save’
Your change request will be submitted and have the ‘Change vehicle’ status. At this point the permit is not active as the request will be in a queue until verified by a permit officer.
We may contact you to provide further evidence.
More detailed information on how to request a change of vehicle or vehicle registration number can be found in the NSL Apply parking permit user guide in the related content section.
If your main vehicle is being serviced or repaired
You can apply for a temporary change of vehicle if you:
- have an active permit and your main car is being serviced or repaired
- need temporary cover for a hire or courtesy car
How to apply for a temporary vehicle cover or courtesy car
- Log in to your permit account
- go to the ‘Manage Vehicle Details’ tab
- select the vehicle that’s currently linked to your permit
- once selected, scroll down and you will see an option to manually enter the vehicle registration number of the vehicle that needs the temporary cover.
- Go to 'Save'
You can check that the change has been made by going to the 'Manage permits' section of your account and selecting the active permit that the change has been requested for.
There you should see your main vehicle registration and the temporary vehicle cover. For example TEST123 (temporary Number Plate - TEST234).
You can review a detailed step by step on how to apply the temporary change vehicle in the NSL Apply guidance document.
Important things to know:
- once the temporary change of vehicle cover has been applied, it becomes active straight away
- this cover is set to expire after 14 days from the activation date
- after 14 days, the temporary vehicle registration will automatically be deleted and your resident permit will automatically be assigned back to your main vehicle
- as this is a temporary cover, you will not receive a reminder and there will be no record of the temporary vehicle registration once the 14 days has lapsed. Please make a note of the activation date of the temporary change of vehicle.
- in the event that your main vehicle is still being serviced or repaired after 14 days you would need to repeat the temporary change of vehicle cover process in your permit account.
You can only apply for temporary vehicle cover 4 times in a 12 month period starting from the date that the resident permit was issued or renewed from.
