From Monday, 1 April, Barnet Council will be offering support with the digital ID verification process as part of your application to the Home Office. Please note the council cannot advise on eligibility or likelihood of success of your application.

The competition, now in its sixth year, has attracted record levels of interest. There were 70 entries, from students at Middlesex or Barnet and Southgate College and Barnet residents with a business idea, or an existing business or social enterprise less than two years old. Forty-nine cleared the elevator pitch stage, receiving a “golden ticket”. Judges of the Business Model Canvas stage at NatWest’s Accelerator Space say the standard was very high and struggled to narrow the shortlist down to the final four.

The competition, now in its sixth year after being launched by Barnet Council to boost the borough’s business talent, attracted record levels of interest. The final winner was Joanne Merchant with her forthcoming high street hub When I Grow Up, providing an appealing play, support and community space for families with young children.

They were given Civic Awards across a range of categories during the event on Wednesday 3 April after being nominated by the public for the good work that they have done. The Worshipful Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Reuben Thompstone, said: “These awards celebrate the contribution that these wonderful people have made to their community. It is enriching to live in a borough that contains such selfless and motivated citizens, who work endlessly to make Barnet a better place for others.”

The building was introduced to Heads and Assistant Head teachers, pupils and school governors at a recent topping out ceremony. The Worshipful Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Reuben Thompstone, and Councillor David Longstaff, Chairman of the Children, Education & Safeguarding Committee, joined them at the event.

The leadership of Barnet Council is fully committed to supporting the government's campaign to tackle hate crime. Hate crime not only has a harmful effect on its victims by attacking who they are as individuals, but also on their families and communities.

The new Brent Cross West Thameslink station will be central to the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme and will provide capacity for up to 8 trains per hour reaching Kings Cross St Pancras in just 12 minutes.

The council sold The Lodge in Victoria Park in 2015 and it is a requirement that any funds raised from the sale will only be spent on Victoria Park. The council, along with Groundwork London, developed a Master Plan for the park, which was agreed and adopted by the council as Trustee of Victoria Park Trust in early 2019.

Following consultation on the initial draft, which broadly demonstrated support for the proposals (for both Copthall and Mill Hill Open Spaces), key responses affecting the design specifically in relation to the Copthall Sports Hub section of the masterplan were received.
