BarNET ZERO, the new borough-wide campaign to help Barnet become one of London’s most sustainable boroughs is launching on 16 Jan. The campaign has been designed to bring residents, communities, and businesses on the borough’s journey to Net Zero, through advice, information and support. An impressive new artwork by London-based artist, Lakwena in collaboration with architects, IF_DO, has been revealed at Brent Cross Town today.

The Leader of Barnet Council, Cllr Barry Rawlings, has welcomed the Government’s announcement today (19 January) to award £29.5m of Levelling Up funding for the redevelopment of Colindale Tube station.

The Barnet Together partnership has awarded £300,000 of the Barnet Community Fund (BCF) to support the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector in Barnet.  The fund was shared between 40 Barnet VCFSE organisations and will be used towards the cost-of-living crisis and Covid-19 recovery.

Barnet Council held its annual Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration yesterday (Sunday 29 January) with a service at Middlesex University, bringing together the borough’s multifaith community to remember the victims of the Holocaust and genocide. This year’s theme for Holocaust Memorial Day was ‘ordinary people’ – the everyday people who were the enablers and the victims of the Holocaust.

Barnet Council has opened the first of its Community Safety Hubs as part of a range of new measures to help tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in the borough of Barnet.

Barnet Council has been recognised for its commitment and continued support to the Armed Forces and has received a Defence Employers Recognition Scheme Silver Award. Barnet Council’s Armed Forces Champions Angela Richardson and Councillor Lachhya Gurung collected the award on behalf of the council at an awards ceremony at the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall on 18 October 2022. The award was presented by His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant, Sir Ken Olisa OBE.
