It is estimated that 4,435 people in the borough have dementia and this is projected to increase to 6,806 by 2035. Barnet Council and the CCG, working closely with the Barnet Alzheimer’s Society, have trained more than 10,000 Dementia Friends in the borough to date and are committed to increasing this number further to ensure that Barnet is a truly dementia friendly borough for our residents.

The theme for Recycle Now’s 17th annual Recycle Week is to thank the nation and the people of Barnet for continuing to recycle despite all that has happened this year. Statistics released by Recycle Now show that through lockdown the UK has become even more environmentally aware, with nearly 9 in 10 households saying they ‘regularly recycle’.

Both online and face-to-face activities are on offer for children and young people, tailored for age groups between 4 to 18, and up to 25 years old for young people with learning disabilities. The mobile units will run from 10.30am-3.30pm at Brent Cross Shopping Centre on Wednesday 7 October and at Edgware Community Hospital on Saturday 10 October. The permanent testing site can be found at Watling Community Centre, 145 Orange Hill Road, Edgware HA8 0TR, from 8am-8pm, seven days a week. DON’T phone the Watling Community Centre to book an appointment, as they won’t be able to help you.
