Join us on our journey to become one of London’s most sustainable boroughs.

In Barnet, we’re on an ambitious journey to tackle climate change and protect biodiversity across the borough. Through our BarNET ZERO initiative, we aim to become a net zero council and borough by 2042.

We can only achieve this by working together, with local people, communities and businesses.

In May 2022, we declared a climate and biodiversity emergency, highlighting the urgency of these commitments. As a result, we launched BarNET ZERO in 2023, a communications initiative to tell Barnet’s story and invite everyone to join us on this journey.
