About Barnet Youth Board
Youth Board usually meets monthly – a mix of online and in person meetings at council offices. It is the place where council staff present strategies and policies to get feedback and ideas from young people.
Youth Board is supported by one of our participation officers. You can attend as little or as often as you like – each session is different and once you have signed up you will receive regular updates about the topic for next time – just RSVP if you are coming along.
You can find out more about the impact Barnet Youth Board has by watching these videos – Barnet professionals explain how young people have shaped local services in 2024 showing our “ You Said, We Did” approach

Being a member of Youth Board will give you the opportunity to:
- Represent the voice of young people and make sure they are listened to by adult decision makers
- Advise policymakers by providing guidance from the perspective of young people, their peers and community
- Develop links with other young people who may have similar concerns or interests
- Gain confidence and new skills for example in public speaking, influencing and persuading, listening to different points of view
- Learning about how the council works behind the scenes and being involved in projects at the very beginning as well as shaping the final product
- Develop experience of extra-curricular activity for your next steps such as college, university or work
What young people say
“Barnet Youth Board is a really simple way of making sure that your opinion is heard and influences the future of Barnet. It’s been a privilege to meet with different organisations and hear the opinions of young people who genuinely want to make an impact, like me! And I would encourage anyone to join.”
“I believe that Barnet Youth Board is a great opportunity to do something positive for our Borough and you should join… you get the chance to meet new interesting people and projects which you can be part off. Whilst having many positives such as having an amazing CV.” Members of Barnet Youth Board
