The Deputy Mayor

Councillor Edith Ngozi David is the Deputy Mayor, and her husband Flint Chukwuma David is the Deputy Mayor’s Escort.


Edith David was born in Nigeria and came to the UK in 1986 to further her education, studying accounting and finance at South Bank University and a master’s in financial management at the Middlesex University.


She has spent her career in public service, with 10 years as Head of Finance and Corporate service at the Houses of Parliament, working for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association UK branch and now in the charity sector. 


Elected as a local councillor for East Barnet in May 2022, she serves as the Chair of the Appeals Committee. She also sits on the Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Governance, Audit, Risk Management and Standards Committee.


In addition to committee roles, Edith is on  the board of two outside bodies, Edward Harvist Trust and The Valentine Poole Charity.
