Barnet Independent Living Service (BILS) offers specialist support to adults with a range of physical and sensory impairments.
BILS works in partnership with individuals and other organisations to help people reach their potential and get the most out of their life.
The support offered covers three main themes based on each individual’s needs.
• Rehabilitation and enablement – staff can offer advice and information on particular health conditions and disabilities as well as home Telecare options, using sensors and other technology.
• Employment and training – staff can offer support needed to help people enter the workplace or volunteer in a safe environment. Help is given to access training or college course, develop IT skills, improve their CV and guide them through the interview process.
• Promoting independence – to enable people to take part in activities they enjoy giving them access to a range of sport and leisure activities.
