Dear Barnet Borough Council,Please treat this as a formal request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.I am requesting specific information regarding your council's handling of council tax non-payment complaints and liability order applications.1. Filing and Hearing Court(s):For each financial year from 2012-2013 to 2024-2025 and 2025 (to date of reply), please confirm the following and please ensure your response is broken down year by year:* a. The magistrates' court at which council tax summonses were issued; * b. The magistrates' court where the corresponding hearings were held; * c. If multiple courts were used in any given year, please specify which court(s) were used and for which dates and number of cases for each court.2. Local Justice Area:Please confirm the name of the Local Justice Area (LJA) that covers your council's administrative area.3. Jurisdictional Authorisation:Where your council has filed complaints or applications at a court outside the LJA in which the alleged property addresses are located, please confirm whether:◦ a) A Section 30 direction (under the Courts Act 2003) was issued to authorise this; ◦ b) Any other statutory authorisation was relied upon; and ◦ c) Your council holds any internal legal advice or correspondence discussing this jurisdictional issue. ◦ d) If yes to any of the above please provide this information.4.
