Dear Council FOI Officer,I am making this request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.Please provide the following information:Children removed due to housing conditionsIn each of the last three years (September 2022 - August 2025), how many children have been removed from their parents/carers where:a) Housing disrepair (e.g., mould, damp, structural issues, infestations) was recorded as a contributing factor; andb) Homelessness (including statutory homelessness, temporary accommodation, or rough sleeping) was recorded as a contributing factor.If available, please also provide:A breakdown by type of order/placement (e.g., temporary care order, emergency removal, permanent adoption).How many of these children were later returned to their families once the housing issue was resolved.Family referrals vs. outcomesIn each of the last three years (September 2022 - August 2025), how many families were referred to Children's Services due to:a) Housing disrepair, andb) Homelessness.Of those referrals, how many resulted in:i) The council taking steps to resolve the housing issue (e.g., repairs, rehousing, temporary accommodation), andii) The child/children being removed from their parents/carers.Financial impactIn each of the last three years (September 2022 - August 2025), what has been the total cost of care placements (e.g., foster care, residential care) where housing disrepair or homelessness was recorded as a contributing factor to the removal.If providing all of this information would exceed the cost/time limit, please provide what can be disclosed within the limit, prioritising:The number of children removed due to disrepair or homelessness, andThe number of families referred vs. outcomes.
