Host a street party to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Barnet Council is inviting residents to host a street party to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.
VE Day commemorates the end of World War II in Europe on 8 May 1945, and celebrations will be taking place across the country from 8 to 11 May 2025.
VE Day is a great opportunity for the local community to come together and honour those who served during the war. We want everyone in Barnet to get involved and are encouraging residents to organise street parties alongside their neighbours.
To host a street party, an application for road closure needs to be submitted to the council by Friday, 4 April 2025.
The application process is simple and free of charge. You can download the street party application form from the council’s Street Parties and Special Events web page.
Once the council receives your application, an officer will review it to ensure the location is suitable for the event. If approved, the council will take care of all the necessary street signage and furniture needed to close your street.
We are expecting a high volume of applications, so we encourage residents to apply as soon as possible.
