Barnets Free home energy fix
As energy prices rise, we understand that many Barnet residents will feel the strain, especially our most vulnerable.
In Barnet, 40% of our carbon emissions come from residential energy use—creating a huge opportunity to cut costs and reduce our environmental impact.That’s why Barnet Council has partnered with Green Doctors, energy efficiency experts, to offer residents free tailored home energy support.
What’s included in the scheme?
By making a Green Doctor referral, you’ll receive access to:
- Free home energy visit (or phone consultation)
- Energy saving kits (free LED light bulbs, draught proofing material and more)
- Help with saving money on your energy bills
- Energy efficiency guidance (including improving home insulation)
Appointments can be conducted in person, over the phone, or via video call, with interpretation services available for non-English speakers and sign language users.
Who can access the support?
This free support is open to Barnet households struggling with energy bills, including:
- Those finding it harder to keep warm in the winter
- Residents aged over 60
- Households with young children or expectant parents
- Anyone on a lower income

Together, we’ll help you save money, keep your home warm, and reduce your energy consumption - all while working towards Barnet’s goal of becoming a net zero borough by 2042.
