Following the disqualification of Joshua Conway, a by-election will be held on Thursday 30 October for one councillor in the Hendon ward. Polling stations in Hendon will be open from 7am-10pm.

Cllr Joshua Conway was disqualified because of a change of status in his employment. By law, a person is disqualified from being a member of a local authority if they are employed in a school that is maintained by the local authority.

Voters on the electoral register in the Hendon ward can vote in this election (except British citizens living overseas).

Anyone wishing to vote who has not yet registered can do so online at Register to vote | Barnet Council.

The deadline to register to vote at this by-election is Tuesday 14 October 2025.

Voting by post is also a convenient and secure way of voting, especially for those unable to go to their polling station.

Anyone can Apply to vote by post | Barnet Council. The deadline to apply for this by-election is 5pm Wednesday 15 October.

Voters are reminded they now need to show a valid form of Voter ID when voting in a polling station. If a voter does not have suitable ID, they can  Apply for photo ID to vote (called a ‘Voter Authority Certificate’) - GOV.UK  for which the deadline for this by-election is 5pm Wednesday 22 October 2025.
