Burnt Oak by-election candidates

The result of yesterday’s by-election in the Burnt Oak ward has been declared at Barnet Council Headquarters, in Colindale. 

The seat was won by Labour Party candidate, Charlotte Elizabeth Daus. 

This means the political composition of the Council is now 40 Labour, 19 Conservative and 3 members who are not part of a council political group (and one vacancy in Finchley Church End Ward).

The turnout for this by-election was 17.3 per cent.

  • There are seven polling stations in the Burnt Oak ward 
  • The total number of eligible electors in the Burnt Oak ward is 13,747 people 
  • In 2021, the Burnt Oak ward had a population of 21,857 people (UK Office for National Statistics) 
  • The ward covers an area of approximately 0.983 square miles (2.55 km2), giving a population density of 22,237/sq mi (8,584/km2), the fourth highest in the borough behind the wards of Golders Green, Colindale South, and the highest being Colindale North, respectively 
  • There was a revision of ward boundaries in Barnet in 2022. Burnt Oak gained territory from Edgware and Hale wards and lost territory to the new ward of Colindale North
