Action for Silk Stream - Balsam Bash

Last updated:

This Barnet Climate Action Month, join Thames21 for one of their Action for Silk Stream monthly volunteering days, held on the last Thursday of June. The session will involve removing the invasive plant Himalayan Balsam, which out-competes native plants and increases the risk of bank erosion.  Volunteers will pull the plant out from the banks so that it cannot self seed and grow again next year. Where to meet: Meet outside the Unitas building in Montrose Park.

Local business owners will hear about opportunities and resources from Barnet Council and its partners that can make your business more sustainable and save you money. Buzzing Barnet: an urban rewilding workshop

Last updated:

Buzzing Barnet is an urban re-wilding activation workshop that creates a synergy between people, plants and pollinators. The workshop supports participants to fashion “Buzz Stops” - portable pots planted with pollinator-friendly herbs and flowers that people can situate in their gardens and balconies thus providing nectar rich pathways for insects. The plants are being grown and nurtured by green-fingered Finchleans between March and June in their homes and allotments, re-using pots donated by members of the local community.

Join us for an afternoon of celebration at the launch party for our new wellbeing space in the heart of Incredible Edible Barnet's community food garden.
