Take part in this relaxing Japanese art form of paper folding to make animals, flowers and more. This event is for people aged 60+ and their carers only. Booking required for all over 60s and carers attending. This event is part of our Loving Life project, a community health project for older adults in 2025. We particularly welcome those living with dementia and their carers. Loving Life is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

Join Jackie in this creative workshop where you will learn the techniques of using watercolour to create your very own spring flowers artwork. In this session, one has a moment, to pause, to observe and to capture the beauty within the stillness of nature. The way colours blend and flow create a sense of depth and movement; it embodies so much beauty and expression. Watercolour can be relatively easy medium to start with, but mastering its techniques and effects requires practice and patience.

Then, there is an invitation to write down some of your own thoughts. Not in polished writing or as a poem, but in your own unique way. Don’t forget to bring a pen and something to write on! Karin De Novellis has a background in teaching and counselling. She is interested in both the spoken and written word and how they can enhance our well-being.

The aim is to create an authentic disco experience with music chosen by revellers. The intention is to promote healthy ageing, and the initiative takes inspiration from countries such as Japan and South Korea, whose populations continue to participate in dance and movement activities as they grow older. Dance for Joy holds the potential to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, to improve fitness, and to improve feelings of subjective wellbeing and happiness.
