Evaluate Your Progress
Why is it an important step in our sustainability journey?
Ideally, this step will take place towards the end of the school year, when you have had at least one full year to implement your Climate Action Plan.
Evaluating your progress gives you a chance to reflect on what is working well, and what you would like to change to make your school more sustainable. Perhaps some actions are proving more effective than others, or you realised that certain actions require more involvement of parents.
It’s important to acknowledge that education settings are complex environments, and so progress might not always be achieved as quickly as you would like.
It’s important to set aside time to reflect on and record your progress, so that you can update your plan.
We’d love to hear the progress you’ve made, and even share some of your case studies with others. The Council will look for opportunities to do this through the Sustainability Leads Network and other events. If you have a good news story to share please email sustainableschools@barnet.gov.uk
Identifying new opportunities
A part of the evaluation process, review your Climate Action Plan to see if there are new opportunities that your education setting can get involved in going forward.
For example, there might be a new funding opportunity you can apply for, or an update to your school’s improvement plan that you could align sustainable actions with.
Identifying these opportunities and changes will prepare you for the next steps of updating your plan with actions for the next school year.
