This Barnet Climate Action Month, meet us in the heart of East Finchley’s shopping and business area where the voices of local community groups will be enlivening the “square”. You can expect activities from local charity, Art Against Knives, working to prevent youth violence through creativity. Join the Finchley Pollinator Project workshop planting nectar rich herbs and flowers from 2pm-4pm. Fixation Academy of Performing Arts will be presenting an excerpt from musical theatre by young people at 2pm.

Did you know? Beans, beans are good for the heart… and the planet! During this drop-in event, Incredible Edible Barnet and Bread n Butter will be spilling the beans about the brilliance of beans! There will be cooking demos and taste tests of different dishes, as well as seed sowing and seed sprouting for you to take to grow at home. Come along to find out about the health, environmental and cost benefits of eating more beans (and other pulses) at this free event as part of the community food growing programme taking place across the borough this year.

Rhyme, Story and Craft Activity Time

Join us for a morning of free fun for children aged 4 and younger and their accompanying adults to celebrate London Climate Action Week. We will be singing songs and nursery rhymes, reading an environmentally themed story book, and doing a creative craft activity. The event is facilitated by Middlesex University Education Department in conjunction with Hendon Library as part of Barnet Climate Action Month. The activity will take place in Hendon Library.
We will look at the village of Totteridge on the edge of London. This is a walking tour. We will see buildings associated with the rural past, the agricultural workers, the remains of the grand houses. We will see the impact of war on a small community. We will see some of the new building alongside the old and discuss architectural style. We will also investigate the idea a communal green space in the community and the impact of green belt planning. Sam is certified City of London tour guide.
