Barnet Council’s proposed budget for the financial year 2025-26 was approved last night (4 March) at a meeting of Full Council. The council is legally required to set a balanced budget, and this year’s budget includes a general Council Tax increase of 2.98% plus an Adult Social Care precept increase of 2%. Barnet continues to maintain a Council Tax lower than any neighbouring boroughs.

Council and emergency services responding to fire in Watford Way, Mill Hill

The council's Emergency On-Call Response Team has been managing a major fire incident throughout the night, affecting properties at 418-430 Watford Way. Consequently, the A1 Watford Way (Barnet By-Pass) was closed in both directions due to fire service activities from Fiveways Corner to A5100 The Broadway (Mill Hill Circus). The roads have now been reopened.
